Sports Literate spotlights the best sports nonfiction.

— Written by Greg Connors

I have been a newspaper journalist at the Newark Star-Ledger, the Boston Herald and the Buffalo News. In Buffalo, I wrote a column called Mixed Media that featured subjects in print, broadcast and online media.

I also worked on the sports desk and won several awards for headline writing.

My wife, Allison, and I live in a suburb of Buffalo and we have three grown children.

I earned a journalism degree at Northwestern University, where I crossed paths with Michael Wilbon, Christine Brennan, Kevin Blackistone and some other journalists you may have heard of. I also worked in the dining hall, dishing out food to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Megan Mullally, Brad Hall and Gary Kroger, among others. And not ONE of them sends me a Christmas card.
